Sodium sulfate, commonly known as Glauber's salt, white mirabilite, transparent crystals or crystalline powder, mainly used for traditional chemical raw materials, soluble in water, bitter, salty, cold. It is reported that sulphur in sodium sulfate (over 20%) can stimulate metabolism in livestock and poultry, and its absorption and biological titers are higher than those of other sulphates. At the same time, the source of sodium sulfate is easy to get and cheap. Therefore, in recent years, sodium sulfate has been widely used as feed protein nutrient fortifier in the United States, Japan, Canada and the former Soviet Union. The application of sodium sulfate in domestic feeding industry is still in the experimental stage.

The production process of sodium sulfate evaporation and crystallization plant

Solid ore containing mirabilite, with fresh water dissolution, get a solution of sodium sulfate. Chemically treated, gravity sedimentation or filtration to remove insoluble substances, carry out vacuum evaporation in the crystallizer. After crystals and solution separation, then adopt air drying method to dry, the client can get sodium sulfate.

The size of the product is determined by the evaporation process of the solution. In order to obtain large particle products, the crystallization parameters must be optimized, such as prolonging the growth time of crystallization and controlling the number of nuclei in the solution.

 

Process Design as follows:

  1. Raw material inlet and preheating (Raw material -> first stage preheating system -> second stage preheating system -> MVR evaporator)

    The raw material solution under 25℃, firstly heat transfer with condensate water under 99℃, and can be preheated to 60℃;

    Secondly, the raw material solution under 60℃ will heat transfer with fresh steam and can be preheated to system evaporation temperature 94℃

    The preheated raw material solution will flow into forced circulation evaporator.

  2. Evaporation (Preheated raw solution -> FC evaporation crystallizer )

    When the material enters the FC evaporation crystallization system, the designed evaporation temperature is 90 ℃, the concentration of sodium sulfate is 31%, and the boiling point rise is considered 4℃. The evaporation amount is 28500kg/h. Wait until the sodium sulfate crystals grow up and then go into the thickener.

    When discharging, the crystal content in the discharge liquid is controlled at 10-15%, which is convenient for subsequent crystal thickening and centrifuge separation.

    In the process of system design, we consider the risk of clogging of sodium sulfate crystals. The problem can be avoided in the selection of centrifugal pumps and installation of equipment.

  3. Discharge (discharge pump -> thickener -> centrifuge -> package)

    Crystal slurry goes into the thickener; continue to increase the solid content to 50-70% (volume ratio). The supernatant goes into the mother liquid tank via overflow chute; slurry goes into the centrifuge for separation. The crystal is stored by bag packaging; motor liquid goes into the mother liquid tank.
